This was painted very intuitively - it started as a mountainscape, then turned into a goose,  then turned into hands holding a ghostly shape. The shape of V has become very pertinent to me recently, it’s a symbol of femininity (vagina); the V of the goose formation; the shape of a witch’s hat...

The piece contains mud which literally grounds it in earth/reality, whilst the subject matter is other-worldly, pertaining to the way we can combine the spiritual with the reality of lived experience, and feel held within that space. It also shows a move towards including more painterly and figurative aspects into my work alongside the abstract, textural elements.
