Paint in an artist
studio on a farm
As seen in The London Standard, Timeout, The Week…
Discover a truly unique artistic experience at Stepney City Farm, just a stone’s throw from Liverpool Street. At Georgie’s Saturday workshops you will find it impossible not to be inspired by her artistic studio (described by writer Anya Levi as ‘an alchemist’s lab’), as well as the farm animals, lush greenery and community vibes. Step into your art robe as you get a refreshingly non-gate-keeper-ing peek into Georgie’s own painting techniques, developed over her ten year career as an internationally exhibiting artist. These include working with organic materials such as mud from the far or sand from the Thames; collaging recycled coffee filters or packaging materials, and splashing paint Pollock-style.
Whether you're a beginner or seasoned artist, you'll leave with a unique piece of art and a refreshed perspective. Perfect for individuals seeking creative growth or teams looking for an innovative bonding experience. Book your transformative workshop now and let creativity flow!
“What a lovely little oasis Stepney City Farm is! I loved the different elements to the session: a little walk around the site, sitting in a little "cave" of trees as we tried to tap into the creative part of our brain and just let go! Georgie offered tea and coffee as we created our art and led us expertly with her gentle, genius, creative soul. I hope I can do this again. Thank you Georgie”
Bernadette, Weekend workshop at Stepney City Farm
-
Arrive at the rural oasis of Stepney City Farm, wander past the goats and the cafe on your way to my studio.
I’ll greet you with a hug (unless you’re not a hugger) and a cuppa and let you find your seat.
-
We start with a stroll past the pigs and hidden gardens of the farm, engaging in fun creative exercises that will help you open up your senses, let go of control and tap into intuition.
We explore expressive mark-making, drawing with eyes closed, sketching sounds and opening up into different brainwave states conducive to art-making.
I give a sprinkling of neuroscience, read a poem and then we head back to the studio.
-
I demonstrate how to use organic textures such as sand from the Thames foreshore and mud from the farm; showing you techniques such as blending and colour mixing, splashing and dripping; working with recycled packaging and polyfilla to create depth and contrast.
-
Then it’s over to you - taking inspiration from the art in the studio, the surrounding nature, and of course your own inner landscape, you can start putting what you’ve learnt into practice and creating your very own unique work of art on canvas.
I’ll be guiding you and helping wherever needed, music will be playing and teas and coffees flowing.
-
At the end we have a group sharing, picture-taking and an opportunity to have your work framed there and then.
Everyone leaves with a smile on their face and a finished piece in a brown paper bag.

Testimonials for Mon:
I had an amazing time at Georgie Mason studios painting class. As someone with little artistic experience, I was a bit nervous at first, but Mon and the overall atmosphere quickly made me feel comfortable. Mon was truly fantastic, with a contagious passion for art and a talent for explaining techniques in simple ways. I strongly recommend it to both beginners and experienced artists.

I can't rate it enough. It's a perfect class for those who have never picked up a paintbrush, and plenty of things to make huge messes and beautiful art with. Lovely peaceful setting and Mona, who taught the class was friendly, warm and encouraging. Just go and exercise that right brain!!
